MY CLUB ACTIVITY CERTIFICATION

My volunteer experience

This term, I went to my mother’s company. In the company, there is a big library. It had a free job for me to do. So I can get a job on that day. When I go to the library, the administrator told me that some rules in the library. There were a lot of rules in the library. I could not remember all the rules in such a short time. He told me that when the people came to the library, they must give me a card. This card proves that they are the staffs in this company. When the staffs cannot find the books they want, I should give them my most help. I can look for the books according to the signs that write what the books involve. I tried my best to remember these rules. Before the administrator left, he encouraged me, “You will have a good job!”
After 10 minutes, there was a man came to me and showed me a card. I received the card with a smile. I saw the card. It had the photo of him and his name, department and some other information. I said to him: “Thank you!” He also gave me a smile, and then he entered into the library. However, 2 minutes later, ha came to me again and said: “I could not find the book.” He also told me what the book is about. I walked into the library and said to him: “Let me help you.” I remembered the administrator’s rules. I looked for the sign. Finally, I found the sign on the booklets. I narrowed the scope of the booklets and it is easy to find that book. I took the book and gave to the man. He told me: “what a good job you have! You are a volunteer in this library?” I answered. So I got his praise. When he left the library he said: “I must tell the administrator, he has a good successor.”
The following 1 hour, I met some other staffs in this company. One of the staffs wanted the book in the top of the booklet. He is so old that he could not climb to the top of the booklet. I found the ladder beside the wall and climbed the ladder and took the book. This old man also praises me and said: “what a good volunteer. You did a good job indeed. ” I got two praises, and I felt too happy said to myself: “I must have confidence to do the work well!”
I finished my work very soon. In this day, I helped about 20 people totally and got a lot of praises. These gave me more confidence to do the other work. When my mother came to the library, she told me: “I have heard other people praise you. Congratulations! I will give you some other jobs in the future and you should do it better, right?” “Yes!” I said with a lot of confidence.
I want to have this kind of experience more, it could make happy and more confident.

An activity with my teacher

In the beginning of this term, our school organized a fundraising. We decided to sell the Spaghetti. At last our group raises about 150 Yuan for the Amity Foundation. They can help us to give the money to the poor children.
At April 9, 2009, our Planning teacher Ms. Bartell led some of the groups’ representatives to the Amity Foundation and chose which children we will help. This foundation is in a small alley. The taxi driver even did not know where it is. When we walked past the gate, we thought it is very small. When we enter into the Amity Foundation, it is in the basement. There were hundreds of pieces of paper on the table. My group needed to look for 3 children to help. My group mate Laurence and I saw about a hundred pieces of paper. At last, we found 3 poorest children. They are all from Yunnan Province and live in the mountain. We were very sympathy to them. When we saw the background of their families, we wish we could help all of the children. However, we did not have enough money to do this. We are regretting to not raise so much money.When we left the Amity Foundation, we felt a sense of accomplishment because we help 3 students and they can use the money to continue their study.

Going to a performance

On the April 27, 2009, GCA organized a Fashion Show. During the Fashion Show, there would be some models showing the clothes what their group designed. Before the Fashion show, all the groups were doing the work hard and designed a lot of kinds of clothes. Finally, they could choose one of them to be the clothes they will showing. Luckily, I was chosen to be the model. I could show our group’s clothes in front of all the GCA students.
The Fashion Show started at 6 p.m. In the beginning of the show, there was a hip-hop dancing. The dancers were very passional. They were jumping, running even wrestling. Maybe this is the real hip-hop culture. Then, the models who wore uniform started their showing. The uniforms are very strange. I think these kinds of uniform are the most fashionable uniform in the world. Some of the models were teachers. They wore the uniform and walked on the stage. One of the uniforms is a spacesuit. It is very weird and funny. I saw this in the preparing room. At that time, I felt so nervous too. After uniform group, our party clothes group would show. My clothes were so feminization. The sleeves on the shoulders had 2 big holes. I just lost my confidence to show myself.When I went back to the preparing room, I felt very calm. I went to the auditorium and enjoy the following performance. I saw the other models were like me, they showed their strong confidence and their wonderful design. It was a fantastic performance in our school.

Act in a Performance

On April 27, 2009, our GCA organized a Fashion Show for all the students. I am very glad to be the model of the Fashion Show. In the early of those days, I thought I just appear in front of my classmates. When Ms. Hadley told me I will show myself in front of all the GCA students. I felt so nervous. I did not know how to show myself at that time. About 3 days later, our group designed beautiful clothes for me. When I saw the picture of the clothes, I was so surprised because this kind of clothes is suitable for girls. It is very strange for me to wear this clothes.
The Fashion Show is coming. There were about 20 models were prepare for next showing. I talked to myself: “I will show the best of me to the other people.” When the MC called: “Chris from 10-C!!!”I inserted my hands in the handle pocket and stopped in the spotlight, I heard there were some of my friends and classmates called my name. All of a sudden, I felt very excited. I walked forward with a lot of confidence. I lost al of the fear in my body at once.
When I walked back, I even made some poses. I heard my friends called my name again. I waved my hands to them. They shouted again. When I came back, I felt my acting was very successful. This is my first experience to be a model and I will remember this time forever!!

The trip to Nanjng Museum

On 8th of March, I went to Nanjing Museum with my friends. The museum is near the Zhongshan Gate. My friends and I met at the gate of our school and we took taxi to there. When we entered the gate of Nanjing Museum, I saw the style of it is like the Place Museum in Beijing.It is also ancient style in China. In the left hand, it is the art museum. It includes some antiques from a long time ago. We got some tickets in the gate. We are surprised that we must have security like before we enter the plane. It seems that the things in the museum are so precious.
The first place we went to is the painted box museum. The exhibition is about the box with paint. It is like a song of Jay Chou——Qing Hua Ci. In the center of the big home, it is a throne. It is important that it is made of jade. It is so valuable. In order to protect that, there was a person walking around the throne. All of us stood in front of that and took photos. Around the throne, there were some little things. Although they were small, they must be so expensive. They were rings, bracelets, and some other decorations from B.C.
When we left this room, we went to Yunjin Room. Yunjin is one of symbol of Nanjing. I saw a textile machine to make Yunjin. It is so big. Its height may be like 2 floors. The Yunjin is yellow, red. It should be made for kings. It is so royal. The patterns on it is so exquisite. We all love them. And we are proud of them.
We also saw the exhibition of Wu Weishan. We have already visited his exhibition in Nanjing University last term. His sculptures are so charming like we have seen in Nanjing University.
Nanjing Museum is so valuable for us to visit. We can learn a lot of things from this huge museum.

Having lunch with my friends

Today I went to an Italian restaurant with some of my classmates. The restaurant is in Xinjiekou and opposite to the Xinhua bookstore. The restaurant is not very big but it is so exquisite. When we enter into this, the waitress said welcome politely. I am so curious that what language she does spoke. She used Chinese and told us it is Italian. I said to myself, we came into a real Italian restaurant.
When I had a seat, I looked around. There were so many foreigners. It looks like a place that foreign people where like to go. The manager saw we were wearing the uniform of Nanjing Foreign Language School. She said there were so many students from NFLS coming to her restaurant. It seems that this restaurant is very popular in our school. When I opened the menu, there was plenty of delicious food in my eyes. Wow, it is good!
I ordered the symbol of Italian food——spaghetti. It looks so cute and so wonderful!! I also ordered a cup of coffee. Last time, I went to a Mexican restaurant with some classmates and Grade 12 students. The Italian restaurant is so different from Mexican restaurant. It includes the environment, style of dish and the waitresses.
At last, we took photos and read the guide of this restaurant. This lunch in the restaurant is so good and I am looking forward to going there again.

My Voluntary Activity

This term I did some voluntary work. I did some work for Ms.Mitchrich and Ms.Hadley to make some decoration for Christmas.
There was a weekend, I went to school with a lot of classmates to help Ms.Mitchrich and Ms.Hadley. Ms.Hadley asked us to paint the cardboard as the wall. The cardboard should be paint in brown dark green and white. It looked like real walls. And we felt very successful after finishing our work.
Before this experience, I thought that volunteer work is very easy, we don’t have to pay out a lot. But after this experience, I realized it is not easy. We should pay out our 100% even 200% effort for the work.
Usually, volunteers don’t receive any remuneration, they do the work just in order to facilitate other people. Because of this I worship them very much, they pay out all of them and do not want to get salary. Last year, 2008 Olympic Game held in Beijing. There were thousands of volunteers servicing for the athletes and the visitors in Beijing and other cities which held Olympic Game. Whether it was sunny or rainy, hot or cold they always stayed in their jobs. In their team, there were some students in the universities, there were some old people. They just wanted gave visitors from other places some benefit. I also remembered in the closure of 2008 Beijing Olympic Game. IOC honored all the volunteers. Although they did not get some award, people will remember them forever. I studied a lot from them. Volunteers should be respected by anybody. This is their awards.
I think I will try my best to do the voluntary work for the people in need. I do not want to get their devoir, I just want to give them warm. This is all the volunteers’ goals. Although I cannot do anything for them, I can try my best.
Like Barack Obama said. YES WE CAN. We can care for others.

My Club Activity

I choose Soccer Club this year and it is my favorite club and I think it is the best club in GCA. I take part in Soccer Club because I love soccer and I am good at playing soccer. And soccer is popular in China although Chinese national soccer team is so weak in Asia and the world.
Our soccer team’s coach is Mr. Pinney and he is our English teacher. He is also like playing soccer and he usually play soccer with his friends in England. In our first training. Mr. Pinney asked us to do some running and jumping in order to relax our muscle. He had a lot of ways to do. Such as when he says one, we should touch the ground. When he says two, we should jump. When he says three, we should run backwards. I think this kind of running is not relax our muscle but not train our reaction abilities. After 10 minutes, we were so tired and excited because we would have a match later. I still remembered I had a goal and an assistant in my first match. So I had confidence in the following matches.
My position is right midfielder like my ideal Cristiano Ronaldo. This kind of player should have cross ability. It means that we should improve my passing precision. And I also need to train my running ability, because I always feel tired after a match. Sometimes Mr. Pinney also tells us some useful soccer skills and how to defense and how to shoot. I think we can use these in the matches.
Our captain is Patrick from Grade 11 and our manager is Angel from Grade 12. They work very hard and always organize some matches.
I love my club because it can give me release from my studying. I love soccer forever.

My sports activities in the winter vacation

I have a lot of time in the winter vacation. I spend 1 hour doing the sports activities. I like playing soccer. When I am running on the soccer field, I feel so satisfied and relaxed. Except soccer, I also climbed the Zijin Mountain, played basketball and went jogging with my cousin.
One day in the winter vacation, my old classmates and I played soccer. This sports activity is our favorite. We always kicked when we was juniors. After 7 months, I found my brothers’ soccer skills improved a lot. We can pass the ball, trap and travel the ball like Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Kaka and some soccer super stars. The activity made us to find the feeling of our junior middle school’s life. After the soccer match, we were so happy. “Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!” We shouted loudly. “I thought of my junior middle school. When we had P.E lesson we often play soccer, and we always waited impatiently when had the lessons before P.E lessons. ” After listening to him, we laughed. Yes, this is our junior middle schools.
In the beginning of the winter vacation, I climbed Zijin Mountain with my cousin. We have climbed the mountain in the first term in Mr. Harris’s classes, so it was not difficult for me. We walk along the road and enjoy the view of beauty. The sunshine was through the vacancies between two leaves. It was very relaxed after climbing the mountain. But my cousin was so tough at that time. He said, I can’t continue to climb, it is so difficult for me. So I want to thank for the P.E lessons, they make me get strong and healthy.
I also did a lot of sports activities during the winter vacation. It enriched my winter vacation.
I feel relaxed when I do the sports activities, it is very healthy for me.

Visiting A Exhibition

On 4th.December, our class went to Nanjing University to visit an exhibition with Ms.Bartell and Ms.Hadley. All of the art works are made by a well-know artist called Wu Weishan. He is the professor of Nanjing University.
We arrived at the Nanjing University very early that we walked around the Art College. It is a beautiful place. Between the two buildings, there is a sculpture made of copper. It is a big bull. It holds its head high. It is very fortitudinous. Professor Wu’s student told us it representative the scholars in China. They do not fear any tribulation. Their spirit is like this kind of bull.
When it was 1 pm, Ms.Hadley leaded our class to the big hall. There are so many sculptures in the hall. Professor Wu’s student told us all of the sculptures are made by Wu Weishan. I watched a program about Wu Weishan before in the Planning lesson. From that program I knew Wu is a very marvelous artist. He is not famous in China but he is also famous in the world. I knew his famous art work is called Sleeping Child. Eventually I realized his uncommon skills.
In the entrance, there is a Laozi’s statuary. His student told us this art work is also his teacher’s famous production in the world. The Laozi is very small and thin. But his countenance is very lifelike. His eyes nose mouth and his goatee. It is like the great ideologist in china thousand years ago. We walked slowly and enjoy such the great works. After finishing visiting the first hall, we entered to the second hall. I saw many small sculptures in the second hall. They are small but they are fancy. I thought it is more difficult to make these small things than big things. The artist must have lofty skills. So Wu Weishan has. This works are unique. They are so beautiful. In the corner of the hall. I saw Sleeping Child. It is a small one. I saw it many times on the TV, but now the real thing is in front of my eyes. I was so excited and I fetch my camera and took many photos. Beside the small one there is a huge one. Many of my classmates stood beside the big one and took pictures. We watched all of the works carefully.
When we left the second hall, I saw there many people at the entrance. I saw a man with long hair stood in the center of the people. I knew he is Wu Weishan, a great artist. I ran to the crowd and asked him to give me his sign. He is very friendly and he is very pleased to sign for us. He is such a gentle well-known professor and artist. We are so excited after we had the great artist’s signature.
There are many huge sculptures outside and we watched them carefully. When we were ready to leave there Ms.Hadley took a picture for our class and we left a memorable moment in Nanjing University Art College.
